Hi, my name is Winifred Parnes, but most people know me as “Winnie”. Based in New York City, I live in the Bronx and I have a kid named Bella. I have been working in the Textiles Industry for over 15 years.
This last year has been difficult to deal with for everyone. In this new situation, we are learning to modify our ways of working, and how we communicate with one another. No matter what, communication being the most important factor. A need to maintain and cultivate those relationships that the very fabric of our textile industry is built on. A community of creative individuals, that bring to life products that complete our lives and lifestyles.
When Luca and Max told me about the idea they were developing, months ago, I was excited to get on board with no hesitation.
For stonefree.design, the US market will be my territory of responsibility, and I could not be more thrilled about it.
The way I see it as of now, due to the current climate in the US, design professionals do not have plans to resume traveling as they used to for at least the whole of 2021. Most likely well into 2022.
It seemed that meeting online on the internet, to have collections be presented by individual studios and designers solved the problems, but my feedback is that most people are tired to go through single Studio websites to find what they are looking for.
stonefree.design is a curated space that is a way for us to move forwards. Where human relations are given the primary focus, and importance is placed on our communities’ future. It is these attributes that made me find myself immediately in synch with this project and allowed me to comfortably dedicate myself to it.
For me, direct communication has always been my natural way of building lasting business relationship. It only seemed logical for me, to introduce myself personally!
You can get to know me here where I will talk to you about who I am, and how I see us creating a future together!
Excited to work together!
I love my job, I love textiles. And I love our industry. It is a place where someone detail orientated like me, gets to combine fine art, design and production to bring incredible projects to fruition.
Selling artwork can be a tough job, with long hours of traveling and days spent flying. But it is also an incredibly rewarding experience. To be part of the process at the beginning of new design developments. It is a job where you get to see where your hard work lands out in the market.
I am thankful that I was introduced to this industry by so many strong amazing women before me, selling artwork for the fashion market. When I transitioned to the home market from fashion about 10 years ago, it was a steep learning curve. And not many women in the US market were representing Home studios. As the years went on, I am still here, holding my own amongst the men.
My customers are really like… my friends and family. In the last year I focused primarily on nurturing those relationships. This has helped to elevate opportunities for all of us in the process.
Why I joined stonefree.design? It’s adaptive. People can self-serve, but there is also the opportunity to interact with me, for me to help them. In our industry things will have to be done in a new way, this is the way.
