Encryption guide

Your design must be encrypted before uploading using the app developed by stonefree.design.

The app, although still in the beta version, shortly to be optimised, works perfectly and can be used with the latest operational systems for Mac(OsX) and Windows.

App Installation

  • MAC

    We are in the process of obtaining official approval from Apple Computer for the app. The app does not install any components in the operational system of your computer and is perfectly safe.

    1. Open the “SFencryptor.zip” file (double click).
    2. The “SFencryptor.app” will appear in the directory, which you can move to any position you like.
    3. For the first use of the app, open it as follows:
      • right click on the app icon.
      • select “Open” on the menu that appears.
      • if a window with “This is an application downloaded from the Internet” appears, click “Open”.
    4. If, instead, you open the application the first time by “double-clicking”, one of the following messages may appear: “SFencryptor.app can’t be opened because it was not downloaded from the App Store” or “SFencryptor.app cannot be opened because the developer cannot be verified”. As previously stated, the app is perfectly safe, so, to proceed to use it:
      • open the “System Preferences” starting from the menu;
      • select the “Security and Privacy” panel;
      • confirm the permission to open the “SFencryptor.app”.

    For further info, consult the page https://support.apple.com/HT202491

  • WINDOWS

    1. Extract the “SFencryptor.zip” archive.
    2. The “SFencryptor.exe” file will appear in the directory, which you can move to any position you like.

How to use it

  1. Open the SFencryptor app
  2. Drag the file to be encrypted onto the large central window of the app.
  3. The app generates two files: an encrypted .zip file and a .txt file (the decryption key).
    • The two files will be saved in the same directory as the original file.
    • The encryption of the file may take from a few seconds to minutes depending on the size of the original file.

Tips and Tricks

FILE NAMING – You must name your design file/folder or the image of your handmade design that you wish to upload onto stonefree.design with a unique code. This code must not be repeated on other designs so that you can always easily identify it within the system. The design code used as the name of the file will automatically be assigned as the design code once uploaded on to the marketplace.

MULTIPLE FILE DESING – If the design is a composition of more than one file, make a zipped folder of the files, name the zipped folder with a unique code (see “file naming” here above) and drag it on to the window in the SFencryptor app.

ATTENTION! Do not modify the name of the encrypted design file or it’s decryption key file.
